SITUATIONS WHERE THE LAW APPLIES: A meeting is a “meeting” for purposes of the law when a quorum or more of the governmental body is gathered—in person or by interactive technology, whether or not action is taken or contemplated. The open meeting law does not address whether the governmental body must keep or publish meeting minutes, hold a meeting for a particular purpose, or allow members of the public to address the body. For any particular governmental body, there may be other laws or charter provisions that address those topics.

13D.06 CIVIL FINES; FORFEITURE OF OFFICE; OTHER REMEDIES.

Subdivision 1.Personal liability for $300 fine. Any person who intentionally violates this chapter shall be subject to personal liability in the form of a civil penalty in an amount not to exceed $300 for a single occurrence, which may not be paid by the public body.
